Each frame for the shell is made from a pewter base plated with sterling silver or 14K gold.
 
The shell is coated with a high-gloss, jewelry-grade resin that forever preserves the beauty of the natural shell within.

Our large circle pendant features a true white, deep luster freshwater pearl measuring between 6-7mm.
Circle

Lobster Designs began with this simple piece, a circular pendant featuring a solid piece of shell from a lobster caught exclusively in Maine
waters. As each piece is unique to the shell from which it was created, some pieces will show a dramatic gradation from red washing into orange. Others may be more consistent in color.  This  circle measures approximately 1 inch in diameter.
Luis Miniature Circle

Measuring approximately ½ inches in diameter, this piece is a subtle statement while offering the same commanding impact of color and texture as our larger pendants.

Lobster Trap Head

This piece is named for the funnel of twine within a trap that a lobster crawls through in order to reach the bait. The funnel allows the lobster to crawl into the trap but makes it very difficult to exit- thus trapping the lobster within. The lobster, once cooked, is picked for consumption. The remaining shell is then cleaned and crushed with a mortar and pestle to create a granular texture, adding depth and interest to the finished jewelry product. This pendant measures approximately 1 ¼ inches in diameter.
Large Circle with Pearl

This piece is our largest pendant and showcases an amazing array of color and texture of the crushed pieces of a lobster’s shell. This pendant measures approximately 1 ¼ inches in diameter. The entire carapace, or back shell, of a single lobster is cooked and crushed with a mortar and pestle to create enough shell to fill these amazing and bold pieces. The drop is a genuine, true-white, 6-7mm freshwater pearl.
The Trap

While the wooden traps of yore and classic and iconic, modern lobster traps are made from a plastic coated wire and rectangular in shape. Our rectangle pendant embraces this ‘modern’ design. Our rectangle pendant showcases a large, solid piece of lobster shell. The color gradations and texture are naturally occurring and show off the lobster shell as it looks coming directly out of the steamer and onto the table. SIZE:
The Square

This pendant features a solid, “framed” piece of lobster shell. The color gradations and texture are naturally occurring. Some pieces are marked with dark lines or scratches which are scars and scrapes the lobster acquired while traversing the ocean floor. These differences literally mark the unique quality and design of each piece of Lobster Designs jewelry. The Square measures approximately 1 inch x 1 inch.
The Heart

Our Lobster Designs Heart speaks of our love of color, texture and of LOBSTER itself. The lobster is an icon of Maine. From the men and women who rely on this crustacean for their livelihoods and the small fishing villages all along the coast that depend upon the fishing industry…  From the people who love to eat lobster, whether native “Mainers” or “from away” or for those who fondly recall a special summer lobster bake on the rocky coast… This piece represents it all-the best that Maine has to offer! Our circle lobster shell earrings feature both crushed lobster shell or a solid piece of shell, set into a round frame. There are many other shapes available, all ready to complement their respective pendants.

Bracelets

We offer three styles of bracelets, ready to make a beautiful statement.

The Lobster Designs Charm Bracelet features a sterling silver or brass lobster charm along with a stunning piece of lobster shell set in your choice of silver or gold finish. The chain measures a standard 7.5" and features a toggle closure. A traditional clasp may be substituted upon request.

The Bangle Bracelet is softly beveled, providing ease of movement for the three charms: a true-white freshwater pearl, a sterling silver or brass lobster charm, and a charming pieces of lobster shell set in your choice of silver or gold finish.

The Link Bracelet is comprised of five links, each crafted to showcase the shell to its utmost potential. The bracelet is finished with a silver or brass lobster charm and a toggle clasp. This piece is substantial and breathtaking.
